Sewing Box Fairies

My entry for Spoonflower's 'sewing coordinates' contest.  I'm trying to do more of their weekly fabric design challenges to broaden my surface pattern portfolio!  This pattern is super girly... even for me!  I wish there was a set of fairies that lived in my sewing box and helped me with projects when I went to sleep. That would be nice.  I do have some wonderful assistants that help me out with Horrible Adorables, but they don't work for thimbles and buttons.  

Fabric8 Design Contest

Today I entered my competition piece for Fabric8.  Fabric8 is a collaboration between Spoonflower and Robert Kaufman Fabrics to discover eight fabric collections from emerging designers, based off of a chosen theme.  The theme this year is 'Cosmic Voyage!'  Out of the eight collections, one overall winner is selected for the ultimate prize of a contract with Robert Kaufman to develop a fabric collection for them!  

I decided to go with a cute space scene of critter-nauts harvesting stars with mischievous space creatures joining in on their fun.  I would love to see a whole children's room based around these characters!  Before I can even think about what I would design as this fabric's coordinates, I have to make it through to the first round of 100!  Wish me luck!

Project Selvage : Round 1

I'm so excited to be one of the top 75 finalists in Project Selvage!  The competition is being put on by Spoonflower and Michael Miller Fabrics.  The theme for it is 'baby boy' fabric.  The winner of the competition will go on to create the rest of the boy collection and also one for baby girls... which will all debut at the 2011 International Quilt Market!
